The songs of Leeds United --> Track 6

We Shall Not Be Moved

As we said about the A-side of this single "Glory, Glory Leeds United", this was probably released in 1970, not in 1968 as indicated by most discographies.

As per the A-side, "We Shall Not Be Moved" was inspired by gospel-tunes. In fact not only inspired, it is an all-through gospel oldie, which Ronnie Hilton rewrote into a Leeds United song. In the middle of the song, we all of a sudden find another tune - "She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes". Again the lyrics are changed of course, as Ronnie has Leeds "running 'round Wembley with the Cup!". Once again the song is performed by the first team, or as they might say it in Yorkshire: The first team squad singing their hearts out...

Give them a break - they were of course rehearsing and preparing the best ever Leeds United record, released a couple of years later - 1972's "Leeds, Leeds, Leeds".
